Driving through Buena Vista County, Iowa last week, I couldn’t believe my eyes! Right there not far from the road were at least 50-80 pheasants, in a harvested corn field. I almost went off the road to see such a sight! I turned the first gravel road east of the one I was traveling on and pulled off the road. There were a few close enough to me that I was able to get a few photos taken. What a wonderful treat to see so many at one time. Roosters and hens together foraging through the harvested corn field covered with a few inches of snow. This one hen was sitting on the fringe of the group on her own. It was an amazing see all those pheasants in a small field eating the corn in the field after they harvested the corn.

So wonderful, glad to hear they may be making a return. Here in Pa. I used to startle some up almost every time I rode out, over 30 years ago. Now I never see them. The only ones still alive here seem to be in gaming, hunting and shooting facilities. Sad!
