Description
While adding black sunflower seeds to my bird feeders in later summer, I noticed that there were new birds to my feeders. The female and male Rose-breasted Grossbeaks. I find it so amazing the difference between the male and females! The females are more tannish gray to darker brown on their upperparts overall with darker tails and wings. Females also have a lighter tan to white belly with a buff tinge. Females also have a white patch above their eyes and on their wings. The Rose-breasted Grossbeaks have a thick conical bill for cracking tough seeds. The bill color is a light pink in color. The males in breeding season are so bright, with their black heads, wings, and upper body. Most of the male's underside is a bright red breast with white around the red. They also have white patches on their wings. What a delight to watch them every day before they migrated on. The Fine Art America watermark will not appear on your purchase.
