Description
Some German American families from Ohio traveled to Iowa in search of farmland. According to history this migration of families can be traced back to the 1840’s when at that time services were held in the home of one of the members of the church when families were first settling in New Vienna. As the area and population increased, a permanent place of worship was needed. This first permanent church was built in 1848 and used until around 1855 when a second church was needed and built. When the community kept expanding, a final church was built and completed in 1887. I have never been to the small town of New Vienna, but when I saw that beautiful church, on the moody day I visited, I just knew I would stop to preserve the memories.
