Description
Thousands of Monarch butterflies migrate each year, from August through October. Some journey more than 2,400 miles from southern Canada to central Mexico. I found a group of them gathering in the trees at Twin Lakes, Iowa. This capture is just one of many that I took. It was very exciting for me because I haven't seen that many since I was a child. Unfortunately, the monarchs are threatened, due to climate change, habitat destruction and pesticides that kill the milkweeds they depend on for nourishment. The Fine Art America watermark will not appear on your purchase.

I haven't seen any yet this year, I have milkweed waiting for them :) Beautiful capture!...F/L
Kathy M Krause replied:
Donna, thank you for your view, comments and F/L! I appreciate that! Yes, my neighbor has milkweed around her garage and some in her garden. While swinging in her swing the other day, I saw one flying towards the garden but then it must have landed because I didn't see it cross over the fence.
