Description
I was very excited when I spotted this raccoon in the Beaver Creek south of Ogden Iowa. They are very curious mammals and very intelligent as well. They find much of their food in the water where I first saw this one. He was going along the shoreline of the creek turning over rocks and pawing under them. It was fun to watch it until he spotted me. He walked towards a path that took him to the top of the creek bed to get a better look at what was watching him. I haven't seen a coon in the wild for a very long time. When I was younger and lived on the farm I had a baby coon for a pet. I named him Bandit. Marvelous shot, and presentation! Love your story, too; how amazing to have a pet coon! l/f
Kathy M Krause replied:
Thank you so much Judi for your enthusiastic comments and l/f! I appreciate that a lot! Yes, it was fun playing with a pet coon but they are still a wild animal and you need a permit to have them. I ended up letting him go back to the wild and would see him one more time before I left the farm. Blessings. :-)

Fascinating find and capture, you don't see them out and about usually in the day light ~ l/f
Kathy M Krause replied:
Yes. You're right Geraldine. I was very surprised when I saw this little one in the creek bed lifting rocks and hunting for food! I almost missed him because he blended right in. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and L/F! Blessings. :-)

Great catch and shot, Kathy! It's been in the water! L/F
Kathy M Krause replied:
Thank you William for your wonderful comments and L/F! I appreciate that! Yes, the raccoon was turning over rocks in the creek but I didn't get a good enough photo of that. The best catch was when he walked up the side of the creek bed and looked back at me. Lol. They're soooo cute! I had one for a pet when I was very young and lived on the farm. Blessings. :-)

Oh, I love this coons expression Kathy, so full of curiosity and personality! And the technique you sometimes employ which somehow seems to highlight details is used so very beautifully. Someone once viewed my paintings and said that he could see that it was all about technique so he was going off to do the same technique! And I thought to myself," No it's not, it's so much more, it's about how you learn to "see" and without that, no technique will have "soul" on its own. It will be lifeless!" Your images have so much soul because of how you see and your techniques just enhance that. I always love what I view here. L/F
Kathy M Krause replied:
Bless you Jane! Thank you so much for your encouraging comments and especially your L/F! I'm glad you liked the raccoon. I really enjoyed watching him! Blessings. :-)
