They are found all around the United States and into southern Canada. Skippers will frequent edges of forests, swamps, brushy areas, and other open areas where nectar plants are found. The silver-spotted skipper is characterized by a large white spot on the underside of each hind wing. It is one of the largest, most widespread, and most recognizable skippers. Thank you for visiting my Gallery! I love capturing special moments with my camera and sharing them with people. I was raised on a farm in Iowa and even though I live in town now, I'm still drawn to the open spaces in the country. Usually to relax and rejuvenate I will turn on the first gravel road I see when I drive out of town. Of course that changes all the time. I blow with the wind and if there isn't a wind I go where and when I feel the urge to turn. I do stop for barns, horses, old farm machinery or old trucks and cars.
