Description
The wild rose is native to a large area of North America. Driving through Iowa country recently while birding with a friend, I stopped to take some pictures of birds, but they disappeared quickly. As I looked around, I noticed that along the gravel by the ditch there were several wild roses blooming. There are several wild rose species that are native to Iowa, and they are difficult to tell apart because they are very similar. It seems our state flower is disappearing from our landscape. I used to see roses all the time when I was younger but now it seems very rare to see them at all when driving on the country roads. The Fine Art America watermark will not appear on your purchase. Ideal for your office or home. You can choose from a fine art canvas print, pillow, greeting cards, puzzles, and many other home decor products are available.

Beautiful bloom. Do these have fragrance? Good to see you are taking photos. We went to Glacier National Park a week ago and my daughter missed watering half of my roses in pots. After I came back, all the new buds dried up. The plant survived but no flowers for a while. I was so upset I cried. I got over it and she sincerely apologized.
Kathy M Krause replied:
Alinna, I am grateful for your view, wonderful comments and fav! Thank you so much. The Wild Prairie Rose is not only known for its beauty but also for its medical and food uses. The roots can be used to treat inflammation of the eye, the fruit can be eaten raw or made into jellies, the stems and leaves can be used in teas. Warm, humid weather intensifies rose fragrance and perfume is at its most intense in early the morning. It's thought that the scent dissipates as the blooms age. Happy travels!
