Artist's Description
I picked up a friend that had never seen wild trumpeter swans before and started driving to Beemer's Pond. Even though it was below zero, there were hundreds of trumpeter swans and Canada geese out on the open water swimming around. My friend was excited to see them. We walked up to the fence and started watching them. I was taking photos and hoping some would fly over the pond, but that didn't happen. After watching for a while, we walked back to the car to warm up. What a wonderful day and so happy there were so many swans for my friend to see! Thank you, God! I was raised on a farm in Iowa and even though I live in town now, I'm still drawn to the open spaces in the country. Usually to relax and rejuvenate I will turn on the first gravel road I see when I drive out of town. Of course that changes all the time. I blow with the wind and if there isn't a wind I go where and when I feel the urge to turn. I do stop for barns, horses, old farm machinery or old trucks and cars.
