Dunbar Slough is a wonderful place in southwest Iowa to go birding. While I visited the area, I saw a pair of Great Egrets, trumpeter swans, coots, shore birds, Eagles, white fronted geese, blue-wing teal, and Canada geese. So peaceful to watch God's nature! I was raised on a farm in Iowa and even though I live in town now, I'm still drawn to the open spaces in the country. Usually to relax and rejuvenate I will turn on the first gravel road I see when I drive out of town. Of course that changes all the time. I blow with the wind and if there isn't a wind I go where and when I feel the urge to turn. I do stop for barns, horses, old farm machinery or old trucks and cars.
