What a beautiful day to drive in the country even though it was a pretty foggy. We had just got about six to eight of snow around our area and the hoarfrost was in the trees and fences. What a gorgeous sight! We found this beautiful red barn near Dolliver Park, Iowa. The roof looked like it was going to fall down, but this barn has weathered many types of storms and is still standing. Snow can be very beautiful but also very dangerous. I was raised on a farm in Iowa and even though I live in town now, I'm still drawn to the open spaces in the country. Usually to relax and rejuvenate I will turn on the first gravel road I see when I drive out of town. Of course that changes all the time. I blow with the wind and if there isn't a wind I go where and when I feel the urge to turn. I do stop for barns, horses, old farm machinery or old trucks and cars. I really enjoy chasing the light of sunrise or sunset! I just started birding in the last couple years and enjoy that as well.
