Arctic wolves are so beautiful and I was excited to watch them roam around when I visited Bear Country in South Dakota. It’s a wonderful drive through park near Rapid City. According to some of the information I read, they are not really afraid of humans and on occasion will act aggressively towards humans. There were also bears, reindeer, buffalo, foxes, badgers, elk, mountain lions and more North American animals to see at the drive through park. If you have the chance to stop, I would highly recommend it! The Fine Art America watermark will not appear on your purchase. Thank you for visiting my Gallery! I love capturing special moments with my camera and sharing them with people. I was raised on a farm in Iowa and even though I live in town now, I'm still drawn to the open spaces in the country. Usually to relax and rejuvenate I will turn on the first gravel road I see when I drive out of town. Of course that changes all the time. I blow with the wind and if there isn't a wind I go where and when I feel the urge to turn. I do stop for barns, horses, old farm machinery or old trucks and cars. I really enjoy chasing the light of sunrise or sunset! I just started birding in the last couple years and enjoy that as well. Amazing capture, great timing and expression, wonder if he's licking his lips from lunch !~
Kathy M Krause replied:
Thank you for your wonderful comments and L Geraldine! I appreciate that! To answer your question, yes, I do believe that there was a person ahead of us that was feeding the different animals. Of course like in real life, animals will rush and get aggressive over their food. I think this particular wolf did grab one of the bigger chunks of meat and take it to the highest peak he could. I was pretty fortunate when the wolf stood up on the hill and he helped me out with that fast lick of the tongue! Love animals! :-)
