I was so excited to have captured more than one photo of this amazing and beautiful bird! Since I was very young, I have always loved woodpeckers! It was so amazing to me that God blessed it with this brilliant and bold red head! One of my favorite birds. These beautiful birds have seriously declined in the past fifty years due to habitat loss and changes to it's food supplies. According to recent studies they have made somewhat of a comeback.
