Original photography by KM Krause. After visiting my Mother in Omaha, I was driving home and loving all the splashes of yellow flowers and goldenrod throughout the ditches along the way. I was so tempted to stop and take some pictures to preserve the memories of the beauty but most of the time I was on the interstate and didn't really want to risk pulling over and taking some photos. As I got closer to home a little tug at my heart gave me a signal to turn off on a gravel road towards Twin Lakes. I'm so very thankful I listened to my heart!!! Along the road towards the lake I saw several dragonflies and butterflies. The one butterfly I was most excited to see was the beautiful monarch! When I was growing up, we would see 100's of them clumped together in the trees when the would be migrating and through the years they have all but disappeared from sight. While I was at the lake I didn't see hundreds but I did see around thirty or forty and that was very exciting!!! I hope you enjoy this beautiful monarch as much as I enjoyed capturing the memory!
