Description
While visiting Lizard Lake in Pocahontas County, Iowa, I was excited to hear and see so many different types of birds! Some were too far away for me to identify but I enjoyed the birds that were close to shore and others that walked up to the grassy areas to forage for food. There were several coot that ventured to shore and up to the grass. I've never seen them so close up and was amazed when I saw their huge feet!! I sat in my car and watched them and other birds for over an hour. Time slips by for me when I'm out in and around nature! It's usually so peaceful and calming. Who are you calling an old coot? Oh wait. The image is a coot. :) Lovely shot. My wife and I have a bit whenever we see one. She says, "Hello duck." And I respond, "I am NOT a duck!"
