Artist's Description
Out and about birding Friday, late afternoon, when I spotted this Barred Owl sitting on a fence post. It was so motionlessl I overlooked it at first glance. It was so beautifully camouflaged with the grove of trees behind it. After I took some photos I thought I would try to get closer before it flew. I made it about twelve steps before he flew and landed on the other side of the road where he perched to give me a few more chances to capture his image. The photo was taken near Dolliver State Park in Iowa. The Fine Art America Watermark will not appear on your purchased artwork. I was raised on a farm in Iowa and even though I live in town now, I'm still drawn to the open spaces in the country. Usually to relax and rejuvenate I will turn on the first gravel road I see when I drive out of town. Of course that changes all the time. I blow with the wind and if there isn't a wind I go where and when I feel the urge to turn. I do stop for barns, horses, old farm machinery or old trucks and cars.
